Lida Loizou is the best actress of her generation. It is the night of her latest premiere, and everything is going like a dream; that is until something unexpected happens at the climax in Act Five. Lida can only watch on as an man she’s never seen before, dressed in a white suit and a hat that hides his face, rises to his feet in the stalls and climbs up onto the stage. The stranger tells her things that seem to affect her deeply, and invites her to a place called Spiritia before disappearing. Lida collapses on stage, and the play comes to a halt. When she comes round, Lida realises that no one in the audience saw any of what happened.
