An innovative approach to the visual and rhetorical construction of greekness by the Greek version of "Classics Illustrated", published during the 1950s until the early 1970s. The author uses a semiotic background, along with deconstructionist approaches, in order to unveil the major verbal and visual tropes of greekness. A constant discussion between comics and the philosophical writings of the period, as well as a glimpse to the roots of the tropes in major figures of European philosophy (e.g. Hegel, Kant, Marx) brings into life the mystery of narrating, visualizing and negotiating national identity.
