A few years after the last war, amidst a
whirlwind of political unrest and general suspicion,
in a Greece of dirt roads and stonebuilt houses, two
youngsters, Smaro and Savvas fall in love, contrary
to the rules and the laws of society. They are innocents,
oblivious to the adventure they’re embarking
on – in the form of formidable enemies and
rivals such as the cruel, despotic Aleca, Smaro’s
mother, and Gerasimos, Smaro’s husband-to-be.
Despite her youth, the girl’s family forces her to become
the wife of Gerasimos, while Savvas disappears,
roaming the seas as a sailor. But can true
love ever wane? Could it just be hiding around the
corner? Can time extinguish the flame of passion?
