In 1943, during the Nazi Occupation, two strange bodies are found in the port of Thessaloniki. Officer Aslanoglou regards them completely expressionless. Throughout Thessaloniki, the situation is chaotic. Murders take place and bombs go off anywhere and everywhere without warning. “Stray” bullets hit people in the middle of the road and people are executed following partisan decision. Greeks fight Greeks in the streets for ideological reasons while the SS drags Jews into trains and sends them off for their final solution. And amidst this chaos, amidst murder, massacre, torture, starvation, pillage, destruction and fear, Officer Aslanoglou wonders “what is the point of trying to keep the peace and the law in a state of mass social madness?”
