Every night Pablo Ponticasso emerges from his mouse-hole and wanders around the museum where he lives, gazing at the paintings and reading about the lives of the artists. By day he sleeps while the crowds troop past, admiring the artworks. He dreams of having his own light-filled studio, a beret and the lovely Anna Parmezana as his model. One evening he starts painting, using a torn canvas and some discarded oils. He signs his work and leaves it on display, where it proves to have special appeal to a group of children. Their teacher is intrigued by the mysterious new artist, and she writes him a letter inviting him to meet her class. He’s too shy to appear in person but he finds a way of leaving a message that will inspire the children to discover their own inner artist. An amusing story about creativity for young readers.
