Α forty-year-old man who has a passion for ancient texts and believes that he is the embodiment of Pythagoras in today's Athens gives seminars on poetry. One evening he meets Lilith, an obscure creature around 25 years old, who is in the habit of collecting sexual experiences because she believes that this will help her to become an author. Our hero falls in love with her, but she keeps slipping away from him. When Pythagoras finally wins Lilith over, he also tries to win her over to his way of thinking. In vain. Lilith is one tough cookie. In fact, on one of their trips to a Greek island, she leaves him after a double murder occurs. Our protagonist falls apart and decides that up to that point he has made a mistake in his life. He's now no longer Pythagoras, but rather another ancient Greek philosopher... Epicure. Until one stormy night, he realizes where his destination lies.
