Lakis Proguidis was born in Volos. He studied at the National Technical University of Thessaloniki. He worked for a few years as a civil engineer. He has lived in Paris since 1980. After furthering his academic studies, in literature this time, he completed his doctoral thesis on Papadiamantis in 1994.
He has published three books in French:
Un ecrivain malgre la critique, an essay on the oeuvre of Vitold Gobrovic.
La Conquete du roman – De Papadiamantis a Boccace, with a foreword by Milan Kundera. A Greek translation of this work was published by Hestia.
De l’autre cote du brouillard, an essay on the contemporary French novel.
His articles on the novel have been published in numerous French and non-French periodicals.
In 1993 he founded and has since been the editor of the tri-monthly literary journal, L’Atelier du roman.
