Mitsákis, Károlos

Μητσάκης, Κάρολος


Professor Karolos Mitsakis was born in Thessaloniki, in 1932. He studied philology at the Universities of Thessaloniki, Oxford and Munich. He was assistant Professor and chairman of the Comparative Philology Department at the University of Maryland, professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Oxford, professor of Modern Greek Literature at the University of Athens and the Chairman of the Institute for Balkan Studies. He has been honoured with the prize Cottfied Herder (University of Wien).
