Potamítis, Dimítris


Ποταμίτης, Δημήτρης, 1945-2003



 

Born in Limassol, Cyprus. Studied theater at the Academy of Drama of the National Theater of Greece. He interpreted important roles for major theater companies of Greece. In 1973 he created the Research Theater in Athens, which continues its activity until now, with two stages, considered one of the most important theater companies in the country for its insistence in producing quality plays.
He has published 8 poetry books and is considered a most representative figure of Greek poetry of the Seventies. His play for children «Stories of Aristophanes, our grandfather» has been an enormous success in Greece and abroad. He has translated many plays in Greek, has given lectures all over Greece and Cyprus and published essays and reviews in newspapers and periodicals.
