Vistonítis, Anastásis

Anastasis Vistonitis was born in Komotini in 1952. He studied politics and economics but soon turned to literature, journalism and the visual arts. Since 1972 he has published collections of poems, fiction, essays and travel books, as well as many articles, essays and reviews in the daily and periodical press. He has been a regular contributor to To Vima newspaper since 1991. He lived in the U.S. (1983-1988), working as a political correspondent and later chief correspondent for the Greek-American newspaper Proti in New York.In 1996 he was general editor of the candidature file that secured the 2004 Olympic Games for Athens. He has participated in many conferences, festivals and poetry readings in Europe and the U.S. From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the European Writers’ Congress. Some of his work has been translated into German and Slovenian.
